NANOMAT

The NANOMAT project has successfully come to an end. This project had a duration of 30 months and was one of the 1st FP6 contracts signed under the Stepping up economic and technological (ETI) scheme funded by the “Research and Innovation” Programme.

The NANOMAT project provided training and innovation services to SMEs working with nanotechnologies and/or nanomaterials to support them to become more innovative and involved in EU RTD programmes.

This project had a consortium composed by 10 partners (technology transfer intermediary organisations, national innovation agencies, universities and private consulting companies) which come from 10 EU, new member states and candidate countries (CZ, DE, ES, FR, NL, HU, LU, PL, RO, SK). This allowed western European partners with considerable experience in EU RTD Programmes to transfer their experience to the eastern European partners. The knowledge transfer was also two-way, with the new member states and associate candidate countries helping the western partners to learn about the expertise and opportunities available outside their usual sphere of operation.

The NANOMAT project activities included to:

  1. Provide training to selected SMEs, the training sessions where delivered in the 5 different Eastern European countries represented in the NANOMAT consortium (CZ, HU, PL, RO, SK). There were two types of training sessions:
  • 1st type - included topics related with technology exploitation and FP6 proposal submission information and procedures.
  • 2nd type - included topics related with technology watch and benchmarking

2. Support in preparing and submitting RTD project proposals to the 6th FP.

3. Provide customised technology watch services to SMEs.

As general supporting activities the NANOMAT consortium also performed 109 technology audits and disseminated information on NANOMAT project services and of EU RTD opportunities to more than 500 European SMEs.

During the 30 month NANOMAT project duration: 10 training sessions where delivered; 259 SMEs where trained, 109 technology audits were performed; information was disseminated to more than 500 SMEs; customised technology watch services were provided to 75 SMEs; support in preparing and submitting 39 RTD project proposals was provided and where 228 SMEs were included; 8 national-state of-the-art reports and 1 European state-of–the-art report on nanotechnologoes and nanomaterials were developed; 7 NANOMAT good practices were published.
